A Leap of Style empowers the modern woman to express her inner confidence through our bold, yet classic designs. We make sure your A Leap of Style piece fits and flatters your shape, is well made, and will work for every aspect of your life - from work to date night, church to brunch. Nothing inspires us more than the amazing women who wear our clothing. 

We love the intricate designs, colors and textiles from Africa - many of our designs incorporate ankara, a type of wax printed fabric traditionally worn in West Africa. Sometimes, we venture out into other textiles too, like the earrings and Ruffle Collar made from Baule Cloth that is handwoven off the Ivory Coast by the Baule tribe. We love the impact and vibrancy of colors and cultures of the African diaspora and beyond. We embrace the beauty of so many cultures so that you can have that extra dash of excitement in your closet! 

CEO & Lead Designer, Karissa Lindsay, started the company from her living room with a $50 sewing machine and a childhood dream. Honestly, she set out to design a dress for her birthday, without the intention of starting a company. 

"I was coming down off of a quarter life crisis, and I'd found a renewed faith in God. It brought out a new boldness; a new confidence in me, and I wanted to express that on the outside," Lindsay says of that first dress. A Leap of Style was born from a desire to stand out, while still remaining classy, comfortable, and stylish. 

Each piece is designed to fit and flatter your curves. This collection is for the woman who wants to add interesting, versatile pieces to her closet that make her feel beautiful and feminine. Our customers tell us all the time they were first drawn in by our use of African prints, but they come back for the way our garments fit and the quality of their construction.
